Minutes of the Warkworth History Society AGM
11th May 2026

Minutes of the last AGM were approved.
Chairman’s Annual Report
Richard reported on another successful year for the History Society. Although membership was very slightly down, visitors were at a record high. Funds are at a healthy level, though slightly down on last year. This was because of rising costs across the board. But since we are not a profit making society it has been agreed to keep membership fees at £10 for the coming year.
January’s meeting had to be abandoned due to inclement weather, and a decision has been taken not to hold a meeting in January in future because of its closeness to Christmas and New Year celebrations, and because of the possibility of bad weather at that time of year.
Richard has agreed to continue in his role as Chairman for another year, but is keen for someone to take his place in the future. Jill Wharton will no longer be available to organise the bar, although she will continue to support the society. Richard thanked her for her contribution over the years, both in the bar and in organising the summer outings. He also expressed his appreciation for the help and support he has received from his wife, Belinda, who has made it possible for him to continue in his role as Chairman.
Treasurer’s Update
In Peter’s absence, Richard displayed the audited accounts for the year 2025-2026.
There was a slight loss due to rising costs but the balance remains at a healthy
£7000+
Appointment of Committee Members
The current committee members were approved to continue in their present posts. Richard appealed to any members who might consider joining the committee to speak to him after the meeting.
There being no further business the AGM came to an end.
Next AGM will be on Monday 10th May 2027.
The new session will begin on Monday 5th October 2026. Printed Programmes for
2026-2027 were available at the door.
